2018 Village Jazz Series
The 2018 Village Jazz Series is now one for the books. This year, the weather was particularly good throughout, audiences were large and enthusiastic, and the performances were fantastic! So sad to see these Thursday nights come to an end for the season - there truly is nothing like great live jazz under the stars in this friendly, inviting setting with its variety of food and drinks so handy from Village Area eateries. Attendees often comment how surprising it is find events like this in a rural setting like Yuma.

2018 Village Jazz Series Schedule:
All events are Thursdays, 6 to 8pm in the Village Area of Yuma Palms Mall, in front of Harkins Theaters.

November 30 - Pre-Village Jazz Series Holiday Concert!
Featuring bassist Cesar Juarez with Yuma Jazz Company Quintet
- The group will play jazz hits along with holiday favorites
December 14 Pre-Village Jazz Series Holiday Concert!
Featuring Yuma Catholic High School Choir with Yuma Jazz Company Quintet
- A jazz Christmas celebration! This will ignite your holiday spirit!
January 11 - Yuma Big Band
The Yuma Big Band kicks off the Series with big, brassy excitement! The YBB knows how to celebrate the big band era!
January 18 - Curtis Taylor
Grammy-winning trumpeter Curtis Taylor and his trio make their first appearance in Yuma - don’t miss this young, inventive trumpet player!
January 25 - Yuma Jazz Company Quintet and Jennifer Wayman
The highly regarded Yuma Jazz Company Quintet will perform crowd favorites and will feature the outstanding vocal stylings of Jennifer Wayman
February 1 - Jason & Elle
Popular local duo Jason & Elle will share their engaging soul / funk / Latin repertoire. J&E are always Village Jazz favorites!
February 8 - Gila Ridge and Cibola high schools
The jazz bands from Gila Ridge and Cibola high schools will showcase their outstanding young musicians. Come hear what these ‘stars of tomorrow’ can do!
February 15 - Yuma Jazz Company Quintet
Yuma Jazz Company Quintet presents its famous “Latin Jazz Eruption” - bossas, sambas, and Afro-Cuban excitement! The eruption is always a high point of the Series!
February 22 - Jimmy Caves
Local jazz and blues legend Jimmy Caves will sing and play some of his favorites with Yuma Jazz Company musicians. It is always a great night with Jimmy!
March 1 - Peter Sprague and Leonard Patton
Internationally known guitarist Peter Sprague returns to Yuma with outstanding vocalist Leonard Patton. These two world class performers are incredible together!
March 8 - John Cain and vocalist Kati Cat
Pianist/singer John Cain and vocalist Kati Cat return to the Village Jazz Series, where their musical talents and engaging humor have made them favorites.
March 15 - Pete Pancrazi
A much loved staple of the Series, Phoenix guitarist and vocalist Pete Pancrazi performs with his quartet, sharing his nimble guitar work, warm vocals, and his own personal charm.
March 22 - High Society Jazz Band
One of the most popular groups ever at the Series, San Diego’s High Society Jazz Band brings Dixieland excitement back to Yuma!
March 29 - Yuma Big Band
In a return performance this season the popular Yuma Big Band will fill the Village Area with big, swinging sounds! Gotta love the YBB!
April 5 - Lori Bell and Ron Satterfield
San Diego flutist Lori Bell makes her debut appearance in the Series with guitarist/vocalist Ron Satterfield. Come hear what has made Lori and Ron such successful jazz performers for years.
April 12 - Jason & Elle
Yuma’s dynamic duo Jason & Elle return for a second engagement this season, displaying their popular and compelling mix of engaging musical styles.
April 19 - Arizona Western College Jazz Band and Gilbert Castellanos
The Arizona Western College Jazz Band invites nationally known trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos to perform as guest artist for their annually anticipated AWC Jazz Fest
April 26 - Yuma Jazz Company Quintet
Closing the Series on a high note, Yuma Jazz Company Quintet will feature some surprise guests, and Village Jazz Series Education Awards will be presented to outstanding high school seniors.
