2019 Village Jazz Series
The free and open to the public Village Jazz Series is back in the Village Area of Yuma Palms Regional Center, 305 S Yuma Palms Pkwy, for its 13th season! Yes - great jazz under the stars returns in a big way for 2019 in its customary inviting atmosphere which includes palm trees, water features, handy eateries, and the fabulous Yuma, Arizona evenings!
All performances are on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8pm in the Village Area of Yuma Palms Regional Center. Bring your own folding chair, relax and enjoy! The music itself, of course, will be terrific! Along with appearances by the highly regarded 'Host Band' Yuma Jazz Company, the series will feature performances by some nationally known jazz artists, including percussionist David Whitman and his Trio, trombonist Matt Hall with his Boptet, vocalist Janet Hammer, vocalist Allison Adams Tucker and guitarist/vocalist Pete Pancrazi. Dixieland continues in the Series with San Diego's High Society Jazz Band, and former Village Jazz Series high school stand out pianist Jonathan Hines returns with his quintet.
Exceptional local musicians performing this year will include vocalist Jennifer Wayman Hart, instrumental/vocal duo Jason & Elle, and the ever-popular Yuma Big Band. And continuing its tradition of showcasing outstanding student musicians, the Village Jazz Series will also present performances by the Arizona Western College, and Cibola High School Jazz Bands.
Emphasizing the important role of music in education, Village Jazz Series Education Awards will be awarded to winning high school senior musicians at the final event of the Series on April 25.
The Series is presented by Yuma Palms Regional Center, funded by its parent company, Inland Real estate Group and sponsored by KSWT, Visit Yuma, Yuma Sun, KAWC FM/AM, Long Realty, and Above All Plumbing. Each concert will be recorded for one time playback on KAWC's "Best of the Village Jazz Series" broadcasts.

November 29, 2018 - Pre-Village Jazz Series Holiday Concert!
Singer/saxophonist Eloisa Arviso will perform some carols and crowd favorites with Yuma Jazz Company for this Special Pre-Village Holiday Concert.
December 13, 2018 - Pre-Village Jazz Series Holiday Concert!
Yuma Jazz Company invites the Yuma Catholic High School Choir to join in the second, festive Pre-Village Holiday Concert.
January 10 - David Whitman
Acclaimed percussionist David Whitman, whose performing career ranges from the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra to the San Diego Symphony, opens the Series and performs for the first time in Yuma with his Trio.
January 17 - Yuma Big Band
The Yuma Big Band is always a favorite with its with big, brassy excitement! The YBB knows how to celebrate the big band era!
January 24 - Yuma Jazz Company
Yuma Jazz Company presents its famous, annual "Latin Jazz Eruption" featuring bossas, sambas, and Afro-Cuban excitement! The eruption is always a high point of the Series!
January 31 - Matt Hall
Renowned jazz trombonist Matt Hall, who is busy in the San Diego scene and leads numerous music projects worldwide, brings his Boptet to Yuma for the first time.
February 7 - Janet Hammer with Yuma Jazz Company
San Diego based vocalist extraordinaire Janet Hammer makes a return trip to Yuma to perform some of her favorite tunes with Yuma Jazz Company.
February 14 - Jason & Elle
Popular local duo Jason & Elle will share their engaging soul / funk / Latin repertoire. J&E are always Village Jazz Series favorites
February 21 - Jennifer Wayman with Yuma Jazz Company
Outstanding vocalist Jennifer Wayman will be featured performing crowd favorites with the highly regarded Yuma Jazz Company.
February 28 - Allison Adams Tucker
Acclaimed vocalist Allison Adams Tucker has performed across the U.S. as well as Japan, Europe, and Mexico. Allison will be making her debut performance in Yuma with her Trio.
March 7 - Jonathan Hines
Pianist Jonathan Hines, who made a lasting impression on Village audiences as a high school musician, returns to perform with his quintet.
March 14 - Pete Pancrazi
A much loved staple of the Series, Phoenix guitarist and vocalist Pete Pancrazi performs with his quartet, sharing his nimble guitar work, warm vocals, and his own personal charm.
March 21 - Yuma Big Band
In a return performance this season the popular Yuma Big Band will fill the Village Area with big, swinging sounds! Gotta love the YBB!
March 28 - High Society Jazz Band
One of the most popular groups ever at the Series, San Diego's High Society Jazz Band brings Dixieland excitement back to Yuma!
April 4 -Jason & Elle
Yuma's dynamic duo Jason & Elle return for a second engagement this season, displaying their popular and compelling mix of engaging musical styles.
April 11 - Cibola High School
The jazz band from Cibola High School will showcase their outstanding young musicians. Come hear what these 'stars of tomorrow' can do!
April 18 - Arizona Western College Jazz Band with Yuma Jazz Company Trio
Yuma's own Arizona Western College Jazz Band will show off what it can do, splitting the bill this evening with Yuma Jazz Company Trio.
April 25 - Yuma Jazz Company
Closing the Series on a high note, Yuma Jazz Company will feature some surprise guests, and Village Jazz Series Education Awards will be presented to outstanding high school seniors.
