Years ago, 'home' after framing houses all day, I lie flat on the floor, eyes closed, mind blank, listening to Barber's Andante For Strings, waiting for something inside to be explained by my head. Waiting.

Years later, home, I sit at my desk, listening to Miles Davis playing My Funny Valentine live at Lincoln Center, I realize my head is going to explain very little about what's going on inside. No waiting.
